Discussion platform "From university to the labor market in the 21st century: a step forward in work- based placements. Mechanisms of Interaction with Employers"

On November 19, 2020, an online meeting was held in Almetyevsk Oil Institute. There were: managers, specialists, scientific and pedagogical workers of higher educational institutions, enterprises of the oil and gas industry, and students. At this event where topical issues of employment, organization of production practices, and creation of the Career Center were discussed. In the work of the discussion platform within the framework of the international project "From university to the labor market in the 21 st century: a step forward in work-based placements. Mechanisms of cooperation with employers" Unilab actively participated in the work of employers-partners of ASOI. In his welcoming speech, Alexander Diakonov, Acting Rector, stressed the importance and timeliness of the meeting with employers, partners of the Institute, to discuss the organization of production practices, internships, and employment of graduates. Using the experience of European and Russian universities, support of oil and gas industry enterprises will allow the creation of a Career Center and ensure the successful employment of graduates.

As a result, were discussed the course of the work, the issues of organization of internship of students, participation of the Institute in the program Vproekte.

ASOI working group surveyed students to obtain information about students' interest in organizing the Career Center inside the Institute. The survey was attended by 285 people - 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students.

Having analyzed the survey results one can see that 71.2% of students already had problems finding a place for their internship. No less important is the fact that more than 80% of respondents expressed a desire to take an internship in companies during their training. The results of the conducted survey on the need to create a Career Center were highlighted. A special interest was aroused by the experience of European universities about the activity of Student Career Centers as a stable platform for the development of effective communication between the Institute and interested parties. Oksana Sadrieva, Head of the Corporate Culture and Youth Policy Development Department of PJSC TATNEFT, told about the involvement of students in the project activities of the organization, Artur Mikhel, a leading specialist in training on drilling fluids of GC Mirriko, proposed to organize a set of activities to form general professional and communicative skills among students. Many employers agreed with this opinion and expressed their readiness to participate in master classes on career issues and joint partnership events. The format of the discussion platform facilitated a successful start for the development of a clear concept of the Career Center and the effective transition of the graduate from the institute to working life.
